Udvar-Hazy Air & Space

Good morning, Friends and Family

Today is another Catchup Day.  I’ve got over 200 photos from our two days in Philly ready to go but before I can post them, I must post the photos from one last day of our DC journey.  For me, this was a major highlight of the visit.  The Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum.

This place is massive and its all about, well, you guessed it, Air and Space.  It is filled with airplanes and items from space travel that you just won’t see anywhere else.  From the Enola Gay to what type of underwear astronauts wore and how they, well, performed necessary functions.  Its all there.  The way the items were displayed was quite unique.  They had an SR-71, the fastest air breathing plane every built, and right behind it like it was chasing it was the Space Shuttle Discovery which was the fastest manned rocket plane every built.  The Discovery was very interesting because unlike some of the other shuttles I’ve seen at various places this one had actually been to space.  You could see the burn marks from all the reentries, etc.

I could go on and on about what was there, but I’ve taken the time to label the photos so for the most part you will know what you are looking at.  So, enjoy the photos.
