Paulson House

Hello Family and Friends

So now we arrive at the Paulson House.  My brother Steve has more of the history of this place and who lived there when so I’m sure he will add it in his comments, right Steve?  Don’t let me down.  I’m counting on you to fill in the blanks here.  I know you told me and Sarah all about this place but being your little brother you did not think I was actually listening did ya?

Anyway, the Paulson House is an old 1800’s house built by hand and lived in by the same family for a long time.  It was an original pioneer settlement.  I took a picture of the Historic Places Plaque that gives more information.

One item I do want to take a minute to point out is the joinery used to put the house together. Not only is it build with hand hewn wood beams, but it seems that the ends were dovetailed. If any of you do woodworking you know how difficult dovetails can be. I am so impressed with the skill it took to make dovetails that large.

Sorry not much more to give here.

The next update will be on our cruise by the Pictured Rocks.  Lots of pictures and lots of information.
