Hello Family and Friends
Today we leave Shipshewana so I thought I would do a recap of the last few days.
Rain. Rain. Rain. And did I mention, we’ve had some rain. Oh, and the occasional Flash Flood warning, Tornado watch, and severe thunderstorm warning. Yes, we’ve gotten quite nicely wetted (not sure if that is a word but spell check is not correcting it so I guess I’m ok). But, would we let downpours dampen our travel? Of course not.
So, 2 days ago we went to the RV/MH Hall of Fame. Now for most of you, me included, the MH in that name stands for Motor Home, right? Wrong! The MH stands for Modular Home. I’ve already told everyone how the Elkhart, IN area is the home of most of the towable RV’s sold in the country. What I did not know was that some of the original RV builders branched out, using the same building techniques, into making houses, first with wood frames then progressing to metal frames. Anyway, the Hall of Fame has a great collection of old RVs both motorized and towable. I’ve included a bunch of pictures of what’s there. They should be showing up in chronological order with the tag for the RV first then picture(s) of that RV. That should help make sense of things a bit.
Yesterday, we headed out searching for farmer’s markets. I guess its too early in the season for them to be fully stocked. Kind of a, fruitless, search if you will pardon my pun. So the day morphed into a nice rest day as we got ready for travel today.
There were a few culinary notes to relate. I finally got to use my new Blackstone griddle to make roasted corn and flank steak (both of which turned out awesome). Sarah made some of her most excellent Chili and we did have dinner out one night at the Essenhaus (which means eating house in German) sampling some of their famous broasted chicken. Overall, it has been a very relaxing almost week here in Shipshewana.
So today’s travel will take us to the Jellystone Park in the town of Frankenmuth (no misspelling, that is how it is spelled and it is pronounced just as its spelled) MI. We will be staying just one night so from there we will be heading to Mackinaw City, MI for a 6 night stay. Sure do hope the weather clears up by then because we have quite a few water based activities planned for that area and it would be a downer if they were rained out.
I am trying to get back on tracking with my posting and picture taking. I do have a selfie to post in the gallery so that’s good, right?
Well, it is time to button things up and head out. So…
